New 23U League

A new 23u league is being coordinated in the Charlotte area, with teams to play on Thursday evenings during the summer. This alleviates the concern and inconvenience of weekend play that requires expensive hotel stays and causes the girls to miss work, family and social time. Also, a player who is on vacation will miss less playing time than with weekend leagues.

The play will be for umpires only, with one set night so that players can plan their schedules. Two games – about an hour and twenty minutes each – will be scheduled. Teams will play three weeks in a row and take the fourth off, then return for three more consecutive weeks. Practice will be recommended once a week but is up to individual teams.

Girls 8 and Under Instructional League
Organizational Meeting

  • Former and present College and High School players and coaches will teach girls the fundamentals of softball at a very affordable cost
  • March practices will be held at Kids Sports on Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AMT
  • Teams and leagues will be organized during this time to start in April at East Rowan, West Rowan, South Rowan and Salisbury areas. Specific locations for these leagues will be determined by March 15, 2012.
  • This league is being formed to help girls in the area learn softball skills the correct way. It will benefit every girl whether she just wants to play on the Recreational Level or has a goal of one day playing in college.
  • This program will also benefit the community by providing jobs to the people that administrate this program.

  • Registration Cost is $30.00 (Covers insurance, equipment and jersey). A $5.00 per session fee will be charged at each session.

Charlotte Starz 8U Instructional League

The Charlotte Starz, along with the NC National Softball Association, are forming a new instructional program for young 8‐U softball players born in 2003 or later. This program compliments traditional recreation leagues by offering advanced instruction and competitive opportunities.

This new instructional league will be coached by the players of the Charlotte Starz 16‐U Showcase team. These high school athletes will work under the guidance of the Starz coaching staff to teach league players advanced fundamentals in throwing, fielding, hitting, and base running. This is a unique opportunity to learn new skills from young ladies who aspire to play in college and yet still remember their first days in the game.

This program will offer instructional sessions every Saturday and Sunday in March from 2:00—4:00 at James Martin Middle School in the University area of Charlotte. (Address is provided above). In early April the players will be divided into teams and participate in controlled scrimmages. The program will conclude in late April with the chance to compete with teams in similar programs from other cities in the region.

The registration fee for this program is just $30, which covers insurance, team equipment and jersey. There is an additional $5 fee per instructional session.
